Bored teen? Dust off that frisbee

2011-07-04 00:00

CONTEMPLATING a few hours without TV, twitter, MXit and Facebook sounds terrible to many.

But the holidays are here and with so many free hours in the day try something different.

Here are some holiday ideas that don’t cost a lot of money and can get your heart racing too.

• Find a field, a few friends, a frisbee or a ball and play. You don’t need lots of people to have a little run around.

• Make a documentary. If your cellphone has a camera interview a friend, or a parent and make a video. You could even share it on Facebook when you inevitably cave in to your social media addiction.

• Reinvent your wardrobe. Find an old top, jeans, shorts or dress and spruce it up a bit.

• Learn how to cook. There are probably cook books in your house, recipes online and a host of cooking shows on TV. Just remember to clean up before mom comes home.

• Make a hard copy of Facebook. Invite some friends around, print off some photographs, find an exercise book and get everyone to add a comment.

The holidays will swing by quickly and when you are back in the classroom, it would be so good to that that you did something a bit different.
