2010-07-08 00:00

BRIAN Thusi will be palying traditional jazz music at a concert at the Playhouse Drama Theatre in Durban tonight at 7.30 pm.

Thusi, the Bala Brothers, Ernie Smith and Melanie Lowe will be performing alongside the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Youth Wind Band, which came first at the 38th Youth and Music Festival in Vienna in 2009.

The Brian Thusi Ensemble will perform Zenzele, Nomakunjalo, Sizakhele, Dembese, and Uthando, before Thusi returns in part two to play What A Wonderful World and Mack The Knife. The distinctive ‘popera’ sounds of the Bala Brothers will be showcased in their renditions of Give Me The Night, Nella Fantasia and Weeping.

Ernie Smith fans can also look forward to Love Don’t Hurt Me Again, Lonely and Ain’t No Sunshine with Lowe, who will also be singing It’s Oh So Quiet and Summertime.

The KZN Youth Wind Band will perform John Williams’s Evening at Pops, Hooked on Soweto, highlights from Mamma Mia!, The Symphonic Beatles and Africa. Tickets at R50 can be bought at Computicket. — Arts Editor.
