Bridge demolition detours

2011-08-15 00:00

WITH the demolition of the Chota Motala bridge taking place soon, motorists must brace themselves for traffic congestion with many routes closed over the weekend of September 2 to 4.

Site Manager of the Chota Motala N3 upgrade Bradley Naidoo has urged motorists to be patient and follow detour route markers as traffic will be disrupted during these three days.

On the first day, the southbound carriageway will be closed to traffic at Cedara, and motorists will be detoured along the R103 to the city and back onto the N3 to Durban.

Trucks will be stacked and escorted by RTI officers through the closure area on a designated route which will be specially marked out.

The northbound carriageway will also be closed to traffic at Alan Paton PMB/N3 JHB split.

The three detour routes will be Ohrtmann Road, Manning Avenue and Willowton Road.

Detour markers will be clearly placed showing which detours to use for which destination being travelled.

Traffic from the city wanting to access Chota Motala Road will be detoured via Manning road. Msunduzi Police and flagmen will also be in place.
