Bring and Buy: SPCA opens new animal-friendly shop

2010-12-09 00:00

THE Pietermaritzburg SPCA has opened up a new “bring and buy” shop — an extension to its existing fundraising outlets, which are open on the first and last Saturday of every month at the premises in Woodhouse Road.

The new shop was opened on December 1 at 4 Gough Street (corner of Gough and Hyslop Streets) opposite the Royal Agricultural Showgrounds.

The SPCA’s official fundraiser, Leanne Jamieson, said: “People would find this facility to be very exciting because it boasts a ‘soon to be opened’ animal-friendly tea garden serving delicious teas, breakfasts and light lunches, and an enchanted fairy garden jungle gym for the children.”

She said the outlet also offers second-hand clothing, bric-a-brac, books, dog food and loads more.

Jamieson urged the community to visit the shop and meet the enthusiastic staff and resident dogs Higgins and Twiggy.

“As the success of the venture is mostly reliant on the generous donations of the community, we encourage your support,” said Jamieson.

She said any donated items can be dropped off at the shop, which is open from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm.

There is ample safe parking available.

For more information, contact the shop on 033 342 6114.
