Bring your dancing shoes, says Chris Walker

A JAZZY mood filled the air yesterday with the arrival of international R&B and jazz artist Chris Walker for the Msunduzi Jazz Festival today.

Speaking at a breakfast function, Walker said he was thrilled to be in Pietermaritzburg and urged all people who will be coming to the city to have their dancing shoes ready.

“We are truly excited to be here and we are going to have lots of fun. Just bring your smiles and your dancing shoes.”

Walker will be performing today at the Golden Horse Casino, at the inaugural jazz fest.

The line-up includes Lira, Naima Kay, Afro-pop group Mafikizolo, husband-and-wife duo Letta Mbuli and Caiphus Semenya and maskandi maestro Phuzekhemisi.

Msunduzi mayor Chris Ndlela promised guests would not be disappointed. “People will be descending on Pietermaritzburg to experience what is expected to be the mother of all jazz festivals.”

One of the directors of Starlight Promotions, Brian Zuma, said tickets were still available but that sales had picked up this week.

“Don’t bring liquor or braai stands, liquor will be sold at the beer hall,” he issued a word of caution.

• Gates open at 10 am, and the show starts at 12 pm at the Golden Horse Casino.
