Brutal: elderly lady killed, possibly raped

2010-12-13 00:00

A 70-YEAR-OLD woman, Gretta Zondi, was found stabbed to death and possibly raped at the gate of her home in Taylor’s Halt yesterday morning.

The discovery was made by the victim’s disabled son who is in a wheelchair, Warrant Officer Joey Jeevan said.

She said Zondi apparently visited a tavern the previous evening. Her son told police that he heard screams at about 11 pm on Saturday, but due to his disability had been unable to investigate.

At 6 am yesterday he found his mother’s body lying near the gate. Her clothing had been removed from her lower body and she had sustained three stab wounds in her back. Her underwear was found nearby.

Police request anyone with information to call Captain Miccah Makhanya at 033 398 9752 or 082 567 0124.
