Buchan to pray for rain Down Under

2014-02-01 00:00

A DESPERATE farmer in Australia has e-mailed Greytown evangelist farmer Angus Buchan to pray for rain Down Under.

Buchan yesterday led a prayer service in Bloemfontein to pray for the release of Pierre Korkie in Yemen, as well as enough rain in the drought-hit areas of the Free State, Northern Cape and North West.

The farmer-turned-evangelist said he had received an e-mail from a farmer in Roma in Australia’s Outback earlier this week describing the plight of cattle farmers in that part of the world. The e-mail had described how a farmer had to shoot his emaciated stud cattle to sell the carcasses. The farmer then shot himself after he had shot his last animal.

Buchan said the glut of meat caused by the Outback drought meant farmers were getting 10c/kilogram for meat.
