Bugs raid: court closed

2013-12-18 00:00

THE Durban high court has been closed since December 14 and will re-open on Monday. A notice posted on the wall of the building states that the court was closed due to a fumigation exercise to get rid of bugs. Yesterday after 10 am, an employee who asked not to be named said everyone has been going to a designated office to sign in for duty, although no one did any work.

“Most of us are at home. We come and sign a register and we go back home. We were told this will be done before Monday, a day where things will go back to normal,” said a woman.

The notice states that only urgent matters would be attended to and these would be heard at the Labour Court in Smith Street next to the Royal Hotel.

The court building doors and windows were sealed off with black plastic material, while contract workers were seen busy in strategic areas of the building. Justice spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga could not be reached for comment.
