Bush crash: newspaper vendor in a stable condition

2009-10-22 00:00

SIBUSISO Nkabinde, The Witness newspaper vendor who was knocked down by a bus yesterday morning, is reportedly in a stable condition in Edendale Hospital.

Doctors are keeping him in hospital for observation, said his employer, Sergie Naidoo.

“The doctors said he is in a stable condition, but he suffered a serious head injury, and head injuries are so unpredictable.”

Naidoo appealed to Nkabinde’s well-wishers to assist him and his family with groceries and other needed items.

“He earns commission only and necessary items like food could be useful in assisting his family while he is in hospital.”

News that Nkabinde’s condition has improved will be welcome news to residents who called The Witness yesterday to find out how he was doing.

One resident who said her name was Henrina said she is planning to send Nkabinde flowers.

“I have lived in this area [Prestbury] for the past three years and I have enjoyed meeting him in the morning. He is a friendly and cheerful person; it is sad what happened to him.”

The others who were involved in the accident are reportedly getting better.

Nokuthula Zikhali, spokeswoman for the Department of Correctional Services, said the people who were in the bus when the accident occurred, have been released from hospital.
