Business talk: expert to speak on challenges facing civil aviation

THE South African Institute of International Affairs, in conjunction with the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business, is to host an address by airline consultant Dr Brian Suckling.

Suckling will be speaking about the challenges facing civil aviation in the 21st century.

Suckling is a vastly experienced pilot who joined the South African Air Force at the age of 17 and transferred to South African Airways in 1972.

Since then, he has flown most of the jet aircraft ope­rated by the national airline.

Suckling works under contract for SAA and owns the Leading Edge Aviation Consulting Group. He holds a B. Iuris degree from Unisa, an MBA from Henley Management College in the UK and a doctorate in business administration from the University of Natal.

The talk will take place on Thursday from 12.30 pm to 2 pm at Chamber House.

Costs are R80 for members of the institute, R100 for members of the chamber, R120 for non-members and R20 for students (on production of a student card).

Lunch will be served and a cash bar is available.
