CINDI relaunches school uniform project

2007-11-11 00:00

Singatha, which means “to support or embrace one who is vulnerable or sad” in Zulu, is a fund that supports CINDI members to assist vulnerable children who cannot afford the cost of a school uniform.

The fund builds on the initiative of Oprah's Angel Network, which donated money towards the project in 2005 and 2006.

Each school uniform costs approximately R500 and there are thousands of children in our region who do not have uniforms. Research definitely emphasises the importance of having a school uniform to enhance resilience and build the esteem of children among their peers.

You can make a difference this year - donations of new school clothing (grey trousers, jerseys, socks and white shirts or blue school dresses and brown school shoes - in any size) can be dropped off at the CINDI offices at 55 Jabu Ndlovu (Loop) Street, or donations can be made into the CINDI account, Nedbank Cascades, branch code 134 325, account number 134 307 4959. Please fax copies of deposit slips through to CINDI on 033 345 7272 so that your donation can be acknowledged.
