Calls flood potholes hotline

2010-01-29 00:00

THE Msunduzi Municipality pothole hotline has reportedly been flooded with calls since The Witness alerted residents about its existence earlier this week.

The hotline is aimed at encouraging residents to report potholes to the Msunduzi Municipality so that the council can fix them.

Municipal manager Rob Haswell said this week that once potholes within the council’s jurisdiction have been reported, they will be inspected within 24 hours.

Depending on where the potholes are, how severe they are and how dangerous they are to the public, they can be repaired within 48 hours, seven days or 14 days, said Haswell, “also depending on the weather”.

Many residents have alerted the municipality about various potholes in the city’s jurisdiction. Although it was unclear which areas had the most residents reporting potholes, the municipality has fixed some of them and others will be fixed in due course.

If your area falls within the Msunduzi Municipality boundary, report potholes, drainage problems and road-related matters to 033 392 2047/59.

If under the uMngeni Municipality, contact the technical services department at 033 239 9245, or fax 033 330 2011, e-mail technical@umngeni.gov.za or fax 086 657 7318.
