Capital Climb entries made easy on ‘Witness’ website

2012-08-03 00:00

AUGUST 18 is the day for one of Pietermaritzburg’s favourite races, The Witness Capital Climb, and this year there are more reasons than ever to enter.

With over R40 000 in prizes to be won, including a cruise for two on the Opera, Apple iPads, three Defy dishwashers and three Samsung flatscreen TV sets from Blomeyer’s Electrical, the lucky draw prizes for this great race are bigger and better than ever before.

And now you can enter online.

All you have to do is log on to The Witness website and click on the Capital Climb link, on the lower right-hand side of the home page.

You’ll be taken straight through to the Mr Price Heroes website, and all you have to do is register online and you’ll be able to collect your race number at race registration at Voortrekker High School on August 17 from noon to 6 pm, or at the school on the morning of the race.

This year we’re starting the race at Voortrekker High School and heading up the hill, making it a brisker run up the hill without the worries about city road closures

That means that your family can wait at the start for you to finish at the same spot, and be there to welcome you back in.

With all this excitement going on, we’re also going to be able to time every runner this year ,which means that irrespective of whether you’re a licensed runner or a fun runner, you’re going to have your name and finish time published in The Witness on Monday, August 20.

So make sure you log on to The Witness today and register. You can also call in at any Mr Price store countrywide to register for the race.

Entry fees are as follows:

Fun runners: R35

Capital Climb full race: R55

Temporary licences: R15

Entries will be accepted at Mr Price stores until August 12 at 6 pm.

You may also pre-enter at Voortrekker grounds on Friday from noon until 6 pm.

Late entries on the morning of the race carry a R15 surcharge.

Blomeyers Electrical will be giving microwaves to the first six schools that enter more than 50 pupils, irrespective of whether they enter the fun run or main race, and if you’re entering a company team there’ll be a floating trophy for the winning team of four.

Make sure you get training and get registered today, and be sure to stay for the lucky draw after the race — you could be the winner of any one of these great prizes.
