Chiefs: Nahayo seals deal with Belgian club

2011-05-26 00:00

JOHANNESBURG — Kaizer Chiefs defender Valery Nahayo has completed his move from the Premier Soccer League club to Belgium outfit K.A.A Gent.

The Burundi star attended trials in Europe recently and Gent have turned their interest into a concrete offer by tying the defender to a four-year contract.

Nahayo has impressed for Amakhosi, helping the club to third place in the Premiership and to Telkom Knockout glory.

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung is delighted for the 27-year-old and believes the deal will forge a strong relationship between the two clubs involved.

“Kaizer Chiefs has agreed to release Nahayo to pursue a long-desired wish in the tough and challenging European League from July 1, 2011,” he told Chiefs’ official website.

“We are very happy and wish that he succeeds at his new home after diligently serving us for three seasons.

“As part of this deal, his departure has created an opportunity for the two clubs to foster relationships beyond the transfer of players.”
