Chiefs: Players disappoint fans at PMB mall

2011-12-20 00:00

KAIZER Chiefs fans were disappointed when the club’s players did not arrive for an event they were supposed to attend at the Greater Edendale Mall yesterday.

Fans waited for hours in the heat. Apparently the team’s marketing agents did not reveal that the players would not appear at the event to promote Hollard Life Insurance.

Thokozani Zuma, a fan clad in Chiefs colours, said: “I would not have been here because I had other commitments but I love my team so cancelled everything to come to them only to find from a reporter that players would not be coming.”

Another fan, Bhuti Moleke, said advertising that the players would attend was just a ploy to get people to come to the Hollard event.

The mall’s public liaison officer, Thobeka Zimu, also expressed her disappointment about the incident.

“It is very disappointing that we have told people that Chiefs players would be here at the mall as per our communication with the team, but they pull a no-show,” she said.

Zimu said that even when the marketers realised that there was a problem with getting players to come to the mall, they still did not communicate.

Attempts to get hold of Chiefs’ marketing manager, Jessica Motaung, were unsuccessful at the time of going to print.
