Child sex: Step-dad’s case postponed

2013-04-03 00:00

THE trial of a man who is charged with performing oral sex on his seven-year-old stepson was adjourned yesterday pending possible plea bargain negotiations between the defence and state.

The case was postponed to April 19 for the negotiations to take place, as well as to obtain reports from a probation officer and correctional supervision official. The 32-year-old accused, who stands charged with rape in terms of the Sexual Offences and Related Matters Act, was granted bail of R3 000 last week.

He is currently residing with his wife’s parents, pending the outcome of his trial.
