Chiraag Seedat: confidence pays off

2012-12-29 00:00

CHIRAAG Seedat, another of the top achievers from Clifton College in Durban, was at first just cautiously confident about his results.

He may as well have thrown the caution to the wind: Chiraag received nine distinctions.

He said he had worked hard during the year but was concerned about Afrikaans. “It is not one of my strongest subjects.”

He went into his exams expecting to pass. “I have been working hard the whole year and by the time that the exams came around, I already knew what I needed to study.”

He said that following his graduation from high school he would be heading to the University of Cape Town, where he hopes to study medicine.

A close relative of Chiraag, who declined to be named, said he was a hard-working and independent individual.

“During the exams, he was just working hard and he was not under any stress because he knew his work and did not even join any study groups as he is a very independent individual.”

Another top achiever at Clifton was Nathan Pillay, who also achieved nine distinctions. Weekend Witness was unable to reach him yesterday.
