Chota Motala Road to be closed tomorrow and Saturday

2011-11-10 00:00

MOTORISTS are warned that traffic jams are likely tomorrow and on Saturday because of service ducts that need to be placed across Chota Motala Road as part of the bridge works at the N3 intersection.

The following traffic diversions will apply:

• Chota Motala Road (Old Greytown Road) from Northdale/Greytown to the Pietermaritzburg city centre will be closed to traffic from 7 pm tomorrow to midnight on Saturday.

The section of road to be closed is the inbound carriageway from the Royston Road intersection to East Street. This will affect traffic travelling from Northdale to the CBD only. Traffic will be diverted along Royston Road to Manning and Ohrtmann Road.

• Traffic entering Chota Motala Road (Old Greytown Road) from N3/Liberty Midlands Mall will only be able to turn left into Northdale. If access to the city centre is required, traffic will be diverted via Willowton Road to Ohrtmann Road and then to city centre.

• Traffic entering Chota Motala Road from the CBD will be diverted along East Street to Manning or Ohrtmann roads. The outbound lane will be closed from East Street to Gumtree Road.

• Traffic entering Chota Motala Road from Durban will only be able to turn right over the new bridge. If access to the city centre is required, traffic will be diverted via Willowton to Ohrtmann and then to city centre.

The detour route will be clearly marked.

Delays are to be expected and motorists are advised to be patient.
