Cobras: spoilt for Proteas

2011-11-30 00:00

CAPE TOWN — Richard Pybus will have no fewer than five of the Proteas ODI squad to choose from when the Cape Cobras meet the Dolphins in their One-Day Cup clash at Newlands today.

Add Test new boy Vernon Philander, Robin Peterson and unused Proteas Twenty20 squad member Richard Levi into the equation and the Cobras will have eight Proteas (who were selected for the recently completed series against Australia) to choose from, the most any of South Africa’s six franchises have available.

This would pose a selection headache for most coaches, and especially in a Cobras team who have only tasted defeat once in the domestic season without their international stars, but Pybus told the Cape Times yesterday: “It is a lovely challenge”.
