Comedy: Regular Durban club nights

2008-04-14 00:00

Thunderhead Comedy club is back for its second season at the Thunder Road Rock Diner in Florida Road on April 24 (last Thursday of the month) and at the Dockyard Theatre’s Late & Live show (first Friday of the month). The Comedy Club evenings aim to promote new comedians from KZN and host professionals on a regular basis.

Glen Bo, an international comedian now based in KZN when in SA, is the man behind promoting the concept. He has been invited to host workshops for performers keen on trying stand-up at UKZN.

“ThunderHEAD is going to run an open mic competition in the near future, developing the comedy scene here and getting professionals interested in touring to Durban again … We see comedians coming to KZN on occasion to do solo shows, but there isn’t a place for them to do normal comedy club sets …” said Bo.

ThunderHEAD Comedy Club kicks its second season off with a great line-up of new acts headlined by Bo. Also appearing are Simmi Areff; Numfundo Mbhible and Lil Paul Cowan.

Tickets are available at the door from 7 pm. Table bookings for four to 10 people are recommended.

For table bookings, call Jimmy Thunder at 083 348 4274. To book tickets call Jorian at Stricklytickets.com at 072 248 9436 or visit www.stricklytickets.com. Prices are R50 (includes wine), R40 standard entry, R30 students and members. Doors open at 6.30 pm for 8 pm.
