Conjoined twins: ‘I’m blessed to have had them’

2009-06-09 00:00

THE conjoined twins Holy and Amazing Ngubane, who died on Saturday, will be laid to rest tomorrow.

The baby girls, who were conjoined at the chest, were almost seven months old. They died after they became ill with vomiting and diarr-hoea.

Their mother, Busisiwe Ngubane, said that although it is painful to lose her children, she felt very blessed to have had them in her life and grateful for the short time she spent with them.

“I am happy if they are at peace and are free from any pain they might have experienced that I was not aware of,” she said.

Ngubane said the past six months were an adventure for her and her children.

“I have learned a lot and gained a lot of experience and have met people I never thought I would meet and been to places I would have never been to if it weren’t for them.”

She said the most valuable lesson that her children taught her was dedication. “They taught me to give myself wholeheartedly to whatever I do; that you do not need money, you just need to be dedicated.”

She said anyone who might find themselves in a situation similar to hers should remember to be strong and dedicated.

The twins will be laid to rest at their home in kwaMpumuza at noon tomorrow.
