Conservation: Jason Hartman to perform in Monaco

2012-04-16 00:00

IDOLS winner Jason Hartman will perform at a star-studded exclusive charity event at Monaco on April 20 to raise funds for conservation efforts.

He is very excited about his performance and told The Witness: “This is a great opportunity and this is going to be a massive event”.

High-profile celebrities such as Quincy Jones, will.i.am, Roger Federer and other international celebrities will attend the event, which took four months to prepare.

The objective is not only to raise awareness around important environmental issues around the globe, but also an appeal for donations to assist in driving ways to find solutions to these issues, especially across Africa.

Hartman’s strong passion for the environment is the reason why he will not stop creating awareness until people get the message.

“I grew up in the Midlands and later moved to Johannesburg.

“When I got to the city I noticed that people were not being friendly to the environment, they were very destructive,” he said.

This is the first of many events and there are plans to take it around the world to raise funds for Conservation Guardians, a global environmental trust of which he is a board member, and which houses a number of NGOs including the International Anti-Poaching Foundation and Hartman’s own charity, Men Of Trees.

“Every cent will be invested in combating poaching and developing communities in order to reduce their impact on the environment,” she said.

The musician has already started doing his bit for communities around the country through his gardening projects in townships like Thembisa and Diepsloot in Johannesburg.

The projects, which he started out of his own pocket, are aimed at helping people learn to sustain themselves.
