Corruption: traffic cops held

TWO traffic officials have been arrested in Melmoth for issuing fake licences and accepting bribes.

Thokozani Dladla, a traffic examiner at Mthonjaneni Local Municipality, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly being part of a syndicate that has been issuing drivers’ licences illegally. Dladla appeared in court yesterday and was released on R2 000 bail.

Yesterday, a female officer who works at the Umhlabuyalingana Local Municipality was arrested for a similar offence. She will appear in court today.

Acting Transport MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo welcomed the arrests.
