Couple’s murder: suspects in court

2010-07-27 00:00

THREE men who allegedly murdered a Hibberdene couple and shoved their half-naked bodies into a car boot appeared in court in Port Shepstone yesterday.

Christopher Early (70) and his wife Jennifer Mary (64) were bludgeoned and shot at their home.

Reuben Robbie Loggenberg (23), Langani Hamilton Nxumalo (23) and Mfanufikile Innocent Faku (33) remain in police custody and will appear in court again on August 2 for bail applications.

Detective Warrant Officer Barnie Pienaar and members of the organised crime unit in Port Shepstone arrested the three a week after the murders at Silver Hill compound at Hibberdene.

A DVD player, a television set, six cellphones and two firearms were some of the items allegedly found in their possession. Among them was two of Early’s handguns and two of his cellphones.

Police said that Faku had just been released from prison in June for housebreaking.
