Crime fighters: iThuba unleash art to shift youth’s focus

2012-11-30 00:00

TALENT was unleashed at the iThuba Youth Foundation and Multi Sports Club’s (TYFM) talent show held at Nseleni Community Hall over the weekend.

The event was attended by over 200 spectators who came to support their favourites out of the 48 artists who performed in hip hop, dance R&B and poetry.

According to TYFM chairperson, Themba Tobo, the event aimed to shift the focus of local young people away from drugs, crime and negative behaviour and instead provided a platform where the youth could showcase their God-given talent.

Tobo said TYFM was planning to host the event monthly in order to foster discipline in the arts.

“We believe that the more they prepare themselves for talent shows the better they become at what they do,” said Tobo.

“As iThuba, we want to do away with crime in this area and build a safe environment for community members through our events.

“We would like to thank all those who support us in this endeavour,” he said.

TYFM is planning to host a fun run/walk on December 5 to encourage peace in the township.

The next talent show will be held in January. For further inquiries contact Themba Tobo on 073 302 7299.
