Crossways Pub reopens

2008-08-29 00:00

Crossways in Hilton reopens tonight under new management and will cater specifically for a slightly older market, says Tommy Lawson, who is now managing the Hilton pub, along with Lauren Buitendach and Brett Armstrong.

“Funnily enough, all three of us went to Laddsworth [Primary School]” he says. “We've all had a long association with the ‘old lady’, and she deserves some respect.”

Lawson says they will focus on live music — specifically open-mic nights during the week as well as weekend events and bands. The new managers have invested in a new stage and sound equipment for the venue, which will be on show tonight.

“We want to appeal to people's emotions — this is a place that has been around for a long time and was renowned for its friendly service, cold beer and good food,” says Lawson. “Obviously the success of any venue relies heavily on music and the quality thereof, and we're making that our focus.”
