Currie Cup: returning Boks to boost Sharks

2011-10-10 00:00

THE Sharks will benefit from South Africa’s premature exit from the Rugby World Cup and a number of Springboks will see action against the log-leading Lions at King’s Park on Saturday night.

The Sharks need to beat the Lions in their final round-robin game and will probably have to score four tries (for a bonus point) to beat off Free State for second place and a home semi-final. Plumtree confirmed yesterday that he would be looking to bolster the team with returning Boks but was uncertain who would be available.

“They are returning from New Zealand in dribs and drabs this week and the challenge is now to re-integrate them into our squad,” he said.

The Sharks, blowing hot and cold in the Currie Cup, need all the help they can get and the return of players like Bismarck du Plessis, Beast Mtawarira, Pat Lambie, JP Pietersen and Willem Alberts will provide them with a timely boost.
