Cwele hearing: no word on outcome

2011-06-29 00:00

HIBISCUS Coast Municipality spokesperson Simon Soboyisa declined to give details yesterday of the internal disciplinary hearing involving suspended municipal director of health Sheryl Cwele.

Convicted drug trafficker Cwele had her disciplinary hearing on Monday, and yesterday the executive committee was briefed by municipal manager Sbu Mkhize.

Soboyisa said the media will be briefed once the report has been presented to a full council meeting tomorrow.

Cwele was sentenced on May 6 for drug trafficking. On May 10 the council voted to suspend her on full pay. On June 10 her salary of R29 000 was reportedly also suspended.

The municipality was directed to hold a disciplinary hearing within a month of her conviction, which she is appealing.
