Dambuza robber gets 25 years

2011-09-02 00:00

A DAMBUZA man, Jabulani Ngubo (31), was sentenced to an effective 25 years’ imprisonment yesterday for his involvment in two armed robberies in Bisley and Pelham during February 2010.

Ngubo was originally charged alongside Phumzile Radebe, also of Dambuza, but their trials were separated after he decided to plead guilty to two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, and to the unlawful possession of a semi-automatic firearm and ammunition, which was stolen during one of the robberies and sold soon afterwards. Ngubo denied he was present when one of the robbery victims, Kanyisa Mabungane, was killed by his accomplices, or that he was aware she would be killed.

This was accepted at the end of the trial by Acting Judge Adrian Rall and an assessor.
