Do you have what it takes to be Ukhozi FM’s next big radio personality?

2011-05-09 00:00

VODACOM, with Ukhozi FM and Boxer Superstores, launched its first annual M-Pesa Top Stars radio DJ talent search competition in Kwa-Zulu Natal with auditions in Vryheid on Friday.

The competition offers South Africans aged between 18 and 25 the chance to become the next big radio personality on Ukhozi FM.

The search for the “Ultimate Radio Presenter” will see celebrity judges, including Ukhozi FM DJs, presiding over the audition and judging processes.

The Top 12 will be selected and introduced to the public on the Ukhozi FM Breakfast Show and the Home Drive Show.

The eventual winner will spend an entire year training at Ukhozi FM before joining the station as a presenter.

Ukhozi FM listeners will play a central role in choosing which aspiring DJs make it through the gruelling competition, having to vote off two DJs a week in the month following the selection of the Top 12.

Once the field has been narrowed to the final two, each contestant will have a fortnight to garner as many votes as he or she can among listeners to determine which of them will walk away with the title of 2011 Vodacom M-Pesa Top Stars Ultimate Radio Presenter.

Alberts Breed, Vodacom KZN managing executive, believes that investment in people is a hugely rewarding experience.

“With Vodacom M-Pesa Top Stars we hope to unearth the great talent that exists among our youth. The intensive nature of the contest will offer contestants a great opportunity to develop new skills”, said Breed.

Those who wish to enter can SMS “town, M-PU Sta” and their full name to 33106, or visit selected KZN-based Boxer Superstores for details.
