Doctor does 199 km/h

2008-03-24 00:00

A BODYGUARD and a Northdale doctor were nabbed on the N3 at Ashburton for being way over the legal speed limit late on Saturday night.

Traffic spokeswoman Zinhle Mngomezulu told The Witness yesterday that a bodyguard driving a Volvo was going at a speed of 209 km/h, while the doctor who was driving a Mercedes was travelling at 199 km/h.

Mngomezulu said both drivers were arrested on scene before being taken to Alexandra Road police station. They will both appear in court tomorrow morning.

It was unknown yesterday who the bodyguard worked for.

“For people to drive in such a manner on the roads is totally inconsiderate because as much as they are putting their lives at risk, the lives of innocent people are also at stake. We are once again warning drivers to follow all the road rules as there will absolutely be zero tolerance for anyone who fails to comply,” said Mngomezulu.
