Dolphins add Inland star to squad for semi

2011-03-03 00:00

The KZN Dolphins have named their squad for tomorrow’s crunch, second-leg Pro20 Series semi-final against the Warriors at Kingsmead.

Back in to bolster the middle-order are the hard-hitting pair of Glen Addicott and Cameron Delport. Both have the distinct ability to clear the boundary, and the Dolphins look set to return to a more orthodox approach in trying to square the possible three-leg tie.

The Warriors did enough to see off the Dolphins a week ago in Port Elizabeth, but that was after an underwhelming performance by the Dolphins top-order.

It is unlikely, though not impossible, that David Miller, Loots Bosman and Vaughn van Jaarsveld will all fail in the same game.

The Dolphins need a win to keep their hopes of a Champions League berth next season alive.

Addicott’s return to the franchise set-up is vindication after some spanking form for the KZN Inland side, including a match-winning century in their one-dayer against SWD last weekend.

His has been a curious case, as he was labelled a certainty for the Pro20 set-up after impressing in several pre-season friendlies.

He has been belatedly brought back into the fold, and will have little time to find his feet again in the red-hot atmosphere of a semi-final tie.

Speaking to The Witness last night, Addicott said he was just relieved to be back in the squad, and looking forward to being involved in such a pressure situation.

“I’ve been hitting the ball quite well, so hopefully I get a chance on Friday night.”

Quite which combination the Dolphins decide on may well be decisive. Coach Graham Ford will know that there is simply no room for mistakes — the Dolphins have to win everything from now on.

Team:

Imraan Khan (Captain), David Miller, Devon Conway, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Ahmed Amla, Loots Bosman, Daryn Smit, Kyle Abbott, Jon Kent, Keshav Maharaj, Yasir Arafat, Glen Addicott and Cameron Delport.
