Double bill in Kloof

2010-07-16 00:00

TONIGHT see two of Durban’s top solo artists, Shannon Hope and Rowan Stuart, who will be joining forces for an exciting double bill at Bluestockings in Kloof tonight.

Pianist and vocal artist Shannon Hope plays original “art pop”, as she describes it, and has just returned to Durban after performing numerous shows at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.

Over the past year, Hope has gained a reputation as one of the hardest-touring self-managed solo artists on the national circuit, delivering an intense personal commentary on emotional fragility and power, to audiences across the country.

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Rowan Stuart, who grew up in Kloof, will be sharing the evening, with his own brand of original music, described as “sophisticated pop”.

He too has been hard at work on tour, promoting his latest album Soul In A Suitcase, which has received radio play around the country with the singles Miles Away and She’s Music. Fans of John Mayer and Sting should enjoy his music.

Supporters of home-grown talent should not miss the opportunity to watch both of these artists in one night of high-class music.

The show is at 7 pm for 7.30 pm tonight. Tickets are R60. To book, phone Narene at 083 659 3628 or Shawn at 074 119 2999. Food and drinks will be on sale, as well as CDs from both artists.
