Draw for lions and Warriors

2013-12-02 00:00

THE Sunfoil Series match between the Highveld Lions and Warriors ended in a draw after the Warriors reached 122 for three after tea yesterday in pursuit of a near impossible winning target of 360 for a win at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.

Ryan Bailey, on 27, and Colin Ingram, on one, were undefeated when the sides decided that there was no realistic chance of a result.

The Lions resumed their second innings on 213 for one yesterday with Alviro Petersen on 130.

Petersen and Dominic Hendricks shared in an attacking 234-run partnership for the second wicket off 278 balls and flayed a weakened Warriors attack to all parts of the field on a docile pitch.

Offspinner Simon Harmer had Hendricks caught behind for 91. He faced 200 balls and hit 11 fours.

The Lions (9.90) edged Warriors (7.12) on bonus points.
