E-waste collection drive

2012-10-29 00:00

AS part of a national e-waste collection campaign, Jeffares & Green Consulting Engineers will be hosting its first public e-waste collection event in partnership with the Liberty Midlands Mall, the Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA) KZN Branch, and PMB based e-waste recycler ‘re-’.

The event will happen at the Liberty Midlands Mall on November 1, between entrance gate two and three (just inside the perimeter fence) from 10 am to 2 pm.

“Any e-waste that is collected will be refurbished, repaired, re-used or recycled where possible, and only safely disposed of if no other treatment options are available. All materials will be handled according to integrated waste management principles and in the most environmentally safe manner,” said Susanne Dittke, e-Waste alliance co-ordinator.

E-waste constitutes any unwanted electrical or electronic equipment (either running on batteries or electricity) such as computers, TVs, VCRs & DVDs, consumer electronics, kettles, printers, fax machines, cell phones, toasters, microwaves or direct parts thereof.

Drop your e-waste and enter the lucky draw and stand a chance to win a shopping voucher valued at R500, courtesy of the Liberty Midlands Mall.
