EFF’s new bikes for land policy

2014-12-17 00:00

SOUTH Africans must buy bicycles and coats to exchange for land “stolen” from their forefathers by colonialists.

Furthermore, people who have claimed land should occupy it and make sure that farming production ceases.

These were among the resolutions taken by the EFF land and agriculture reform commission and presented to delegates at the party’s congress yesterday.

They will form part of the EFF’s policies to be implemented by a future government formed by the party, which it is convinced will happen in 2019.

Land expropriation without compensation is one of the seven pillars of EFF policy.

Land commission secretary Shelly Mokhothu said they also resolved to call for an immediate land audit.

The party wants minerals rights to go along with land rights.

At present, mineral rights are deemed to belong to the government, rather than to land owners.

The EFF will next year launch a “Give us back our land” campaign.
