‘Edutainment’ hits high schools

2008-04-14 00:00

Those who knew and loved prominent businesswoman Rosemary Themba Ntombfikile said that KwaZulu-Natal has lost a heroine who selflessly gave of herself for the betterment of women in South Africa.

Ximba (48) died recently in a car accident, while on her way to Scottburgh on the south coast.

According to a close friend, Nana Mngomezulu, Ximba’s construction business, Zaminjabulo Business Construction, was responsible for the building of many roads and schools in KZN.

Ximba was also the chairwoman of the South African Women Entrepreneurs’ Network in the province and, said Mngomezulu, she travelled extensively around the province and to neighbouring countries to bring back ideas that resulted in job creation, for women in particular.

“She was the one who first introduced the recycling of plastic bags for small businesses in the province … We have lost a true friend.

“She was always helpful and good spirited. She helped everyone, even those who were outside of her family. She always tried to upgrade people’s living standards and she will be sadly missed.”

Ximba is survived by four children, the youngest of whom is eight years old.
