DBN THEATRE: The Von Memertys — a Celebration is the title of a touching, delightful, life-affirming evening of musical theatre featuring Ian Von Memerty and his family. The show will be at the Hellenic Hall in Durban North from today. Von Memerty, his wife Vivienne, and their two children, Oskar (13) and Kasvia (8), perform together in a show that has been called completely uplifting, inspired and inspirational, and pure magic. Booking: 082 499 8636 or e-mail roland@stansell.za.net Tickets are R200 which includes a three-course meal and show. Times are 7 pm (for dinner with the show at 8.30 pm) Tuesday to Saturday and 1.30 pm on Sunday, with the show at 3 pm.

PMB ART: An exciting exhibition of embroideries runs in the Tatham Art Gallery’s Schreiner Gallery until August 3. On show will be the work of the Fancy Stitch Group from Ingwavuma — brilliantly coloured single-thread hand embroideries. Some are in the form of pictures or wall hangings, but others are made up into greeting cards, key rings, bookmarks and photograph frames. Their colours are brilliant and their stitches meticulous, and while some are purely decorative, others tell stories of rural life. Gallery hours are 10 am to 6 pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

PMB ART: The annual KwaZulu-Natal Matric Art exhibition runs in the Tatham Art Gallery until July 13. This is always a great chance to see the best of the art being done in local schools. Most of the works were chosen from the 2007 Matric year, but some of this year's work can also be seen. Gallery hours 10 am to 6 pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Information: 033 392 2801.

PMB ART: The Basani Art and Craft Centre at 15 Hyslop Road is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm (closed Mondays). The Basani African Art Market runs every Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. Crafters and artists will be selling work directly to art lovers who will be able discuss the artists' work with them. The Basani Craft Shop will be open and the Basani Kitchen serves refreshments. Phone 033 342 3697 or 076 307 5400.
