ANNUAL MEETINGS

ARTS AND CRAFTS

• artSPACE durban, at 3 Millar Road, off Umgeni Road in Durban, is hosting ceramic lessons by Lynette Morris-Hale tomorrow and February 6. In two sessions participants will learn how to make a funky teapot and glaze it. The first session is tomorrow from 9 am to 11 am, the second one on February 6 from 9 am to 11 am. Admission is R450. DANCE

• The Theatre — St Anne’s College, is to host a performance by the Flatfoot Dance Company on February 4 at 7.30 pm. Spirit includes two of the company’s works — the duet Hands Wash Each Other, choreographed by Flatfoot dancer Vusi Makanya, and Circle, a collaborative piece between the dancers and guest choreographer Sifiso E. EVENTS

• The Fern Hill Hotel in Howick is hosting a Burns Day celebration tomorrow in honour of Scottish poet Robbie Burns. The celebration will include a musical concert performed by Gion Poltera and friends starting at noon, followed by a traditional toast to the haggis, a buffet lunch and Scottish dancing. MUSIC

• Lovers of Indian classical music should go to the Durban City Hall on February 10 to see Three Shades of Raga. The festival is headlined by Pandit Jasraj and features violinist Kala Ramnath, tabla maestro Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and Swiss-based sarodist Ken Zuckerman. Jameela Siddiqi will present a pre-concert talk. Tickets are at Computicket.

 

THEATRE

• Geraldine Naidoo’s comedy, Monkey Nuts, is at the Hilton College Theatre at 7.30 pm on January 28 and 29. Matthew Ribnick portrays a series of characters as he tells the story of Edgar Chambers, a bank teller obsessed with competitions.
