Exercise: a common cover for cheating

2013-06-01 00:00

CHEATING doesn’t only happen in the Comrades, but in the bedroom too, of course. Some untrustworthy partners use running and other sporting activities as a decoy for a rendezvous with a lover.

While excuses to cover up dates range from business trips to meetings with friends or family, the Internet can aid amateurs with step-by-step guides on “how to have an affair and not get caught”.

For the more experienced cheaters, there is a way to have lusty chats with a foreign love interest.

However, the fashion of “hobby cheating” as it is known, is one of the top excuses used by men to distract their partners.

This emerged after a Canadian online affair service, AshleyMadison.com, recently conducted a survey of 1 376 cheating men in South Africa.

The survey revealed that 56% of its members used running and fitness as an excuse to hide a liaison with a mistress.

AshleyMadison.com’s founder and CEO, Noel Biderman, said: “Marathon bedroom trysts with their mistresses top the training choice of South African runners.

“Hobby cheaters are not a new phenomenon, and coupled with the increased endorphins after a good work-out, these married men are sure to find a happy ending on and off the road.”

The site launched in South Africa in June 2012 and recently passed the 135 000 users mark.

It also recently launched its Travelling Man feature in SA, which allows members to send a custom priority message to up to 30 female members in a city they are visiting.

Members simply input the type of women they are seeking by age, ethnicity and the location they want to meet in, and AshleyMadison.com will bring the women to them.

Playing the field in a relationship has become easier to do online. Many on-line dating websites brand themselves as an avenue for affairs with married people. For example, Affairmatch.com, which can filter search results to the exact affair you’re looking for.

Said Biderman: “So ladies, beware the husband who does not have the energy to make it to the finish line in bed; he may actually be saving his energy for distance training in his mistress’s bedroom!”
