Expected and deserved win for duo

2010-06-12 00:00

CARL Calvery and Andrew Hill lived up to expectations and took a deserved win in the two-day Unlimited Dusi Mfula MTB Off-Road Experience between the Lion Park and Inanda Dam last weekend. The pair won the first stage over 62 km in a time of two hours, forty-two minutes and 39 seconds. This gave them enough of an advantage on the second day to claim the overall win, despite the pair of Tyronne White and Sean Merridew clocking the fastest time of the day for the second stage (2:1:58) over the single track infested 42 km route. Merridew and White placed second overall ahead of a strong challenge from David Leiman and Jeremy Thomson.

Amongst the women’s teams, it was Sarah van Heerden and Beverley Wood who made an impression and took first place overall, despite Deborah Dick and Caroline Minnaar taking the win on the first day. Second team overall was Alison Misselhorn and Annik Crynen, with Dick and Minnaar slipping to third overall.
