Ezemvelo: Search is on for lioness

2013-06-28 00:00

EZEMVELO KZN Wildlife is searching for a lioness that was reported to be roaming the area of Ntambanana near Empangeni, the organisation’s spokesperson said yesterday.

EKZNW spokesperson Musa Mtambo said an employee of the Tambothi Farm in Heatonville alleged that she was confronted by the lioness on Monday.

She managed to retreat without it attacking her.

“Ezemvelo has been in the area and can confirm that the spoor seen in the area resemble those of a lion. A lion call-up conducted over the past two days has yielded no positive results. Today, Ezemvelo field rangers will search the area to see if they are any fresh spoor,” he said in a press statement.

Anyone who spots the lioness can contact Phumla Zulu on 072 465 4420 or Roy Jones on 082 559 2852.
