Family affair: Three generations celebrate Mother’s day in the sky

2010-05-10 00:00

MOTHERS’ Day saw a group of three generations taking to the open sky to try tandem skydiving as a way of celebrating the day.

The skydiving took place at Angels’ Way Farm in Eston, with the group taking to the sky in an Atlas Angel flown by pilot Graeme Gordon.

At 3 657 m above the ground, the skydivers jumped. Sherril Montgomery (62), mother to Michelle Campher (37) and Wendy Kloppers (35), and her granddaughter Maxine Campher (15) took part in the adventure.

Montgomery was taken by surprise as she thought she was coming to watch her two daughters skydive, only to find herself included in the adventure.

After 45 seconds of exhilarating freefall, the parachutes were opened at 1 524 m.

The women enjoyed their day and the adventure served its purpose — to surprise a beloved mother.
