Family renounce fugitive Goss

2014-06-10 00:00

THE family of KZN scamster Lerlin Goss no longer want anything to do with her as police continue to tighten their case against her.

But since a series of exposés in The Witness, she has disappeared, removing her daughter from high school and apparently her whereabouts are not even known by her husband, Ashley.

Estimations have put Goss’s fraud spree in excess of R1 million, crippling small businesses from Pietermaritzburg to Durban and forcing some businesses to close.

Goss ran Pietermaritzburg-based Goss Real Estate (also known as Rawson’s Corporation), which claimed to have an extensive property development portfolio, including projects in Ballito, Amanzimtoti and the provincial capital. She claimed to have several degrees including a “MBA in real estate and finance from the University of Unisa”. It has emerged that the Goss Real Estate business profile and her qualifications were lifted off a U.S.-based estate agency website with just the location and currency changed.

She has also been accused of issuing fraudulent EFTs and issuing cheques that always bounced.

And now according to her cousin, Regina Khumalo — who claims she was used as a front by Goss in the real estate business — even Goss’s family have distanced themselves from the one-time high flyer.
