Farm murders: Lawyer sacked

2012-03-24 00:00

FARM murder accused Mzwandile Magubane (21) told the high court in Pietermaritzburg yesterday he wants to fire his legal aid attorney.

Magubane and members of his family, who said they would assist him financially to hire a private attorney, were given until Monday to return to court with a new lawyer.

Meanwhile, Magubane’s legal aid attorney, Chetna Singh, has not yet been given leave to withdraw from the case.

She appeared startled yesterday when Magubane raised his hand to speak and said he was not happy with her services and wanted a new lawyer.

Magubane is charged with the murders of Lorraine Karg, Hilda Linyane and Shayi Zakius Mhlongo at Sherwood farm on July 21, 2010.
