Father Christmas visits Kloof this week, so join the festive fun

2013-12-17 00:00

THE Christmas light display at 1 Old Main Road, Kloof, has been a festive attraction for almost 10 years, but this December, Father Christmas himself is coming to pay a visit.

“The reindeer on the roof have become a feature here over the years and everyone in Kloof enjoys looking at them,” says Sandra Wickee, secretary of the Keep Kloof Beautiful Association (KKB).

So KKB thought why not invite Father Christmas along to add to the fun. Inspired by a similar project in Cape Town, KKB approached CC&A Insurance Brokers, who own the building and put up the annual display, “and they just embraced it”, says Wickee.

Father Christmas will be in residence in the property’s extensive gardens to Friday between 6.30 pm to 8 pm, weather permitting.

“If it’s raining one night, come the next,” says Wickee.

“Little kids can tell Father Christmas if they have been good or bad, and there will be some fairies who will give sweets to children on their way to see him.”

There will also be a jumping castle and face painting. Families are welcome to picnic in the garden and parking is available in the tennis court area at the rear of the building. Entrance is free, but a donation can be made to KKB as you leave.

“It’s a pilot project,” says Wickee. “If it is successful, it will become a highlight on the Kloof calendar.”
