‘Fearless leader’ heads to Boston

2013-04-01 00:00

AN Estcourt man is making a name for himself on the world stage as a motivational speaker.

David Allen from Estcourt is now set to give talks as a guest speaker at a leadership forum at Boston University in the United States on April 5 and 6.

Allen started giving motivational talks in Estcourt with the Greystone Adventure Camp, but his reputation has grown recently and he is now sought after as a motivational speaker and for his talks on leadership.

Allen said: “I am excited that the little boy from Estcourt is making an impression on the world stage.”

He has spoken at leadership forums in Switzerland as well as in Germany with Ergo International before, but this is the first time that Allen will speak in the United States.

Allen is set to share the podium with the famous American actress Jessica Alba and he admitted that it would be both an honour and challenge to speak after Alba, to youths from all over the world.

Allen’s talks will focus on cultivating self-esteem, respect, time management, team-building skills, and what makes a good leader.

Allen said he derives his own inspiration from none other than Nelson Mandela himself, and shares some of that wisdom with youths of all cultures.

This is evident when last year, after some of his talks in Switzerland, two boys, one from a Jewish background and another from an Islamic background, formed a friendship that continues to the present day, across religious and cultural rifts.

On the website www.villagecamps.com, Allen is referred to as a “fearless leader”.
