Festival of colour comes to Durban

2013-11-20 00:00

DURBAN will soon be awash with colour, when the Original Holi Festival of Colours comes to the coast. Those willing to get into the colourful spirit of things can get ready to paint the town red, blue, green and yellow – and maybe paint themselves and others too.

The Holi Festival of Colours 2013 World Tour, first held in Europe, is now coming to Durban to transform Berea Rovers club into a multi-coloured dance floor from 12 pm on December 28. More than 14 countries and over 38 cities worldwide are now part of this event.

Every hour on the hour from 1 pm a countdown culminates in partygoers throwing their powder into the air to create a massive explosion of colour. The coloured powder is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and allergen-free, the organisers said. The powder will be sold at the event for R20 per sachet in five different colours.

The line-up includes some of South Africa’s biggest artists such as Locnville, DJ Fresh, Pascal & Pearce and Napalma, all performing live.

Tickets on sale now at www.holifestival.com/sa and Computicket.
