Firefighters kept busy as veld fires hit parts of PMB

2014-07-18 00:00

VELD fires kept firefighters busy in Pietermaritzburg last night.

According to Msunduzi Fire Department, they were so busy that they had to call in their Edendale satellite unit. They said a large fire at Khan Road near an informal settlement threw a large pall of smoke over the area, affecting traffic as well as the residents.

Fires affected parts of Northdale, Hayfields and Woodlands but firefighters were equal to the task and no injuries were reported.
