Flu outbreak: PMB pupils hospitalised

2013-06-08 00:00

THERE is currently a flu outbreak at Maritzburg College, but the school’s management said it was par for the course at this time of the year and the outbreak was no more severe than those in previous years.

College’s spokesperson Graham Bennetts said he suspected it was the change of season that had caused the outbreak, because it seems to be an annual occurrence.

“Pietermaritzburg hospitals were full and some of the boys had to be sent to Hillcrest. I believe that the flu didn’t affect only us,” Bennetts added.

He said the school had to cancel its rugby and hockey fixtures because players were not fit to play.
